Product Details

Barrelfish. The Gulf's best-kept secret. Barrelfish spend their lives at 400 to 1,000 feet on deepwater structure — a species rarely available commercially and even more rarely landed fresh. Our captains bring it in because if you've eaten it, you already know. If you haven't, this is the introduction. Processed and vacuum sealed within days of landing. Frozen at -5°F. Frozen Fresh.

Flavor & Texture

Dense, rich white flesh with a clean, pronounced flavor. Firmer and more flavorful than most reef fish — closer to deep-water tilefish in character than standard grouper. Holds up well under any cooking method, but rewards simple preparation. Don't overthink it.

Health Benefits

Barrelfish is a lean, nutrient-dense protein — approximately 20g protein per 3 oz serving. Good source of omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, and B vitamins. Low in saturated fat. A clean, complete protein from extreme-depth Gulf water.

What You Receive

Wild caught barrelfish, vacuum sealed in 6 oz individual fillets. Sourced from deep-water U.S. Gulf structure. Sold by the 6 oz package. Packages are 5–6 oz and may vary slightly. Fillets come skin off and deboned.

Why Frozen Is Actually Fresher

Frozen Within 2–3 Days

Most grocery store fish is 7–10 days old before it hits the counter. Ours is processed and frozen within 2–3 days of landing.

Locks In Nutrition

Flash freezing preserves the omega-3s, protein, and flavor that degrade in fresh fish over time.

Better Than “Fresh”

In seafood, “fresh” often means never frozen but days old. Frozen right means genuinely fresh.
